Start of Weirdness

Look at those shoes! And the bird companion, and the monster lurking in the shadows. I think this is a scene from Count Weirdly’s childhood! The children wouldn’t play with him– the little girls laughed in his face! So of course he turned to creepy monsters for companionship.

Could the eyeball creature be Weirdly’s first, abandoned creation? In panel 1, it stays close to him. In panel 2, young Weirdly is so preoccupied with making the animals miserable that his friend runs away forever.
